First Reformed

First Reformed - The Existential Crisis of the Modern World Can God forgive us for what we've done to this world?  Our world is dying. Once luscious landscapes are now dantesque nightmares. Is there anything that can be done? How do we stop the machine of greed that is causing this disaster? Is the machine too powerful? What can we do? Is doing anything worth it? Are we in time to prevent the death of our species and most of the others? Right now, we live in what is probably the greatest and worst crisis in the history of humanity, and this crisis is purely man-made - they are a product of the greed of the powerful and wealthy. who care more about the money in their offshore accounts than the health of our planet and its inhabitants. This crisis isn't merely environmental - it's political, moral, and, above all, existential. First Reformed is an urgent wake-up call for all of us. In it, we follow Reverend Ernst Toller, a priest in a small chapel in upstate New York,

Love, Simon

Love, Simon - The film I was in need of    This is scary. I have never written explicitly about my sexual orientation in here. But I think this is the perfect time for it. It's scary because I'm exposing myself in a way I'm not used to, and that's something that can be dangerous. But what this film has taught me is that I shouldn't be scared. This film was so important to me because it spoke to me in such a deep and personal level. It explored so many issues that I faced and am facing and showed me that I am not alone in this world. I had seen some "gay movies" (I'm using this label, but I don't like using it because I don't think films should be labeled for the sexual orientation of their main characters) before, and each one of them taught me a lot. From Weekend to Moonlight to Call Me By Your Name . But this one helped me further because Love, Simon  tells the story of a gay teenager who is faced with that thing that all LGBTQ people

La la Land

Image
La La Land - Here's to the ones who dream  Big dreams. Big ambitions. Love and passion. Who makes the world spin around? How do we realize our dreams? This is what La La Land  is about. Damien Chazelle tells us the story of an aspiring actress and an ambitious jazz pianist who cross passes and fall for each other. This is a story about dreams. It's magical and escapist, yet overwhelmingly realistic.  Chazelle doesn't shy away from showing us the pains and sacrifices we must go through in order to make our dreams come true. We are immersed in the alluring city of Los Angeles, a city that is like a deceiving siren, in one of the most beautiful musicals of all time (and, I even dare to say, one of the best in the history of cinema), as we follow the lives of these two people with big ambitions and the conflict between their love and dreams. La La Land  will inspire you, dazzle you and make you fall in love. This is a film for dreamers.  We are introduced to this musical
